Product Background

The low-altitude economy is booming: In recent years, the low-altitude economy has witnessed rapid development, and a trillion-dollar market has entered an explosive phase. Starting from July 2024, the "Civil Unmanned Aircraft Operation Safety Management Regulations" was officially implemented, clearly delineating the management boundaries for micro, light, and small unmanned aircraft, and gradually opening up applications in airspace below 120 meters, providing a more standardized environment and broader space for the operation of unmanned aircraft, enabling various industries to apply and develop unmanned aircraft more widely. The YS-650 50kg industry unmanned aircraft emerged under such favorable policy conditions.
The growth of industry application demands: Industrial-grade unmanned aircraft have surpassed consumer-grade unmanned aircraft to become the main growth point of the civilian unmanned aircraft market. They have been widely used in multiple fields such as agricultural and forestry pest control, logistics, security patrol, and oil and gas extraction. For example, in the logistics field, unmanned aircraft are needed to transport heavy goods, and a 50kg load capacity can meet the transportation needs of some small equipment and components; in agricultural and forestry pest control, they can carry more pesticides or seeds, improving operation efficiency and reducing take-off and landing frequencies. These industries' demand for large-load unmanned aircraft is constantly being released, driving the research and application of unmanned aircraft like YS-650.

Breakthrough in power technology: Traditional industrial-grade drones mostly use lithium batteries as their power source, resulting in short flight durations and limiting their application scope. However, nowadays, new technologies such as hydrogen energy have made progress in the field of drones. For instance, the 50-kilogram hydrogen-powered drone jointly developed by AVIC Chengfei and Tsinghua University completed a 30-hour long-duration cross-day continuous flight. Although it is not clear whether the YS-650 uses hydrogen energy, the overall development of power technology has made it possible for 50-kilogram heavy-load drones to achieve longer flight durations and more stable flights, enabling them to better meet industry application requirements.
Body design is more optimized: To achieve large-load flights, the body structure design of drones is crucial. Drones like the YS-650, which weigh 50 kilograms, usually use lightweight and high-strength materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum alloy, or composite materials to construct the body, ensuring structural strength while reducing the overall weight. At the same time, optimizing the arm layout, body shape, and surface smoothness, etc., can reduce flight resistance and improve energy efficiency, providing a good body foundation for carrying a 50-kilogram load.

Advances in flight control technology: Advanced flight control technology is crucial for the stable flight of large-load unmanned aerial vehicles. Today's unmanned aerial vehicles can be equipped with three positioning systems such as RTK or GPS/GLonASS or BDSS/GLonASS dual-mode GPS Beidou satellite systems, which improve the hovering accuracy, such as both vertical and horizontal directions can reach ±2.5m.
